"Yes, son?"
"I think that I might like to live here some day."
"In Fredericksburg? Why?"
"It is quiet. There are no reports of homicides, or gang activity, or anything like that. And it isn't busy like Virginia Beach."
"Well, I agree that it is a beautiful place, and you are a grown man who is capable of making his own decisions, so if that is what you want, I hope that you will be able to get home, get your daughter, get your parole completed, and return."
"That's my plan. And ............."
PAUSE
"Yes, son?"
"Red is here, too."
DING, DING, DING.
And there you have it, folks.
The real reason my son wants to return to Fredericksburg as quickly as possible -- A girl, a girl that he currently works with, a girl who he has mentioned a time or two in conversation, a girl who he talks to every night at 8:00.
I don't know whether to laugh or cry.

Ohhhhhh - Is she a nice person? Hmmmmmm I can understand why you are worried - But on the bright side he did mention the no gangs or homicides bit and that may say that he just wants peace in his life with the woman he loves?

Why do they have to grow up and do that to us? LOL
There are times I look forward to all my kids being grown, moving out, living their own lives (one of them already has)...but I will miss them so....
I know it's different in your situation, but in a way it is very similar. You have been looking forward to him coming home for so long, and now he finally is, only to tell you, it won't be for long. He has found a new center in his life...sigh.
I hope she will be just what you would have wanted for your son, and that she will be good for him, and his daughter too.
maybe she'll be perfect for him ...
I hope that works out and/or things progress slowly.

Just know that you have done all you can and he is capable of making decisions apart from you. I know you will always be there to support him. I think he knows that as well.
