Prison Trivia:
When a prison goes into "lockdown" status no one leaves their cell except to take a shower -- every three days.
Food is served through slots in the doors.
The water is cut off except for once an hour on the hour for 2 minutes. Inmates stand next to the sink/toilet to make sure that they can wash their face, brush their teeth, and flush their toilet.
The more I learn, the more I fear that this is a nightmare that my son will carry forever.

Makes you wonder how they expect humane people to leave prison and live humane lives when they treat them worse than animals (which are treated badly anyways) I would think they should (should being the operative word) teach the inmates how to be level headed nice people - so when they get out they stand more chance of staying out
He may need counselling - I hope he can get over this trauma
with the right support and the love of his family there's no reason why this won't become just some distant memory that surfaces rarely. it's good for him to talk about it ...
the trick is for it to leave a mark and not a scar- that may take some time! :heartbeat:
Hopefully it will be something he will never have to experience again.
My best friend went to prison off and on for 5 years. She is out and clean and sober now. She remembers these things...but she doesn't keep it with her everyday. The only thing she keeps is that she's compulsive about being neat (kind of like ex military people.)
I agree with Jerjoni
The not being able to brush teeth/pee is way too extreme I think.
i pray for amnesia
for you and for him
i hope he can maintain the .. "essence " so that he stays straight ...
u know?
What horrible memories........

I thought lockdown was a short term thing...hours...not days
Unfortunately, lockdown lasted more than just hours. There were times he would not be able to call us for more than one weekend because they would lockdown on Friday and not be off of it until the next week. He struggles now with keeping a routine sleeping time. He just said tonight that he went to bed at 6 a.m. this morning. Of course that may have had something to do with the PS2 & TV we just got him for his room. gowoot
Touch experience to overcome. Jerjoni's comment was great. And how about, if it doesn't kill you, it makes you stronger? Easy to say, tougher to implement, but a guy's gotta do what a guy's gotta do. My good thoughts are with you.
We have too many friends in common not to be Friends. So if you don't mind, I'll sub and invite you to The Berry Patch for a visit. Or two. Or three. Or more.
Thanks for the invite. I'm not participating in that area of Xanga. Its a plot to get everyone to keep their Xanga open all the time they are online where you are a sitting target for any marketing crap they might dream up. They will get around no ads on premium. My popup blocker already blocks endless ad.yieldmanager ads from Xanga.
:goodjob: A good blog. I tend to think it depends on the person. Some say that prison is the only way they can stay "clean". Others it destroys, literally. In our system, it is not unusual to get caught in the in the system and become a statistic rather than a human being. When are we going to learn that there are more people in prison because they didn't have the resources to be defended?
How inhumane! :heartbeat:
