  • "I'm sorry ma'am. Without established paternity, we can't help you."

I am so sick of hearing those words!

We have asked for a paternity acknowledgement form. We have asked a social worker from NY social services; we have asked Niagara County Court House personnel; we have asked a NY police assistant.

"The mother needs to sign the form and send it forward."

Okay, we thought, so we asked Bittani's mom to ask Brittani to sign and send one; she asked; Brittani refused.

Social Services indicated that they would force a paternity test when Brittani claimed paternity. She did - a year ago. No test has been "forced" (even though we have asked why on two separate occasions).

"You can order your own test," they told us the last time we inquired.

Several phone calls and a lot of time later, we found out that even if we were willing to pay the 1000.00 plus dollars that it would cost to get someone to go to Robert to swab his mouth, we would also have to arrange for Brittani and Destiny to be swabbed. If Brittani refuses, we can take her to court.

Of course, Robert would have to be there, which he can't be, so we are back where we started again ...................

  • Mannnnnnnn that sux :(

  • woudlnt you only need your son and the baby to be swabbed to see if they match.  I dont think you need the mom...becaue she is a given.  Maybe when Robert is free you can swab him and the baby when you see her.  I believe ther is a way you can actually mail them in.  I saw something like this on that show "starting over".  Best of luck :)

  • i thought she had to prove paternity when she applied for state and federal monies... what happened? when he gets out and gets a job, she'll have to prove he is the father to collect child support, right?

  • That is horrible. Hope it all works out.

  • seriously? that is insane. Hugs :whocares:

  • I'm sorry you're meeting roadblocks continually. :fl02:

  • The system is so messed up. Paper and ink, I get so tired of it all.
Best of luck. I really mean that.

    Peace and Love:)

  • Why does Brittanni's mother object?  What is it in for her except to lose child support (when the baby father is up and earning)?   I can't understand this at all.

  • I cant believe how much red tape and paperwork you have to go through over there to get anything done

  • Hi.....I found your xanga through Silvernicks subscriber list.  You're a very engaging writer; I ended up going all the way back to your first xanga post.

Hope you don't mind another subscriber, because I think I'm hooked on reading your xanga now.  :sunny:

  • hang in there.

  • :heartbeat: The ebbs and flows meander, on their way there are blocking DAMNS! This has been a long, hard road for you, I just hope it all evens out and simplifies. Love to you.

  • that's terrible.  i hope that one day Destiny will realise just what a wonderful and caring grandmother she has, a grandmother who wanted nothing more than what is right.  everything is made so difficult these days.

    *hugs*

  • Its my understanding that if a mother is receiving state aid she has to give the name of father so the state can go after him to recover monies....

  • So why doesn't Brittany want to prove who the father is?  I'm very confused.

  • You would think, with all these fathers who reneg on their support, they would welcome someone like Robert who is so desperate to be part of his daughter's life.

    Government.  Gotta love it.

  • :) hugs...

  • ... so who has custody of Destiny?  Have they been to court over the child abuse?  Brittani shouldn't ever even be allowed to be in the same room with Destiny, if you ask me (not that anyone did!).
